Kindergarten thru 3rd Grade: Combo Classes
Our Combo classes allow dancers to learn a variety of styles and explore outside their comfort zones in a single class (which also means less driving to the studio for grown-ups!). Our Combo classes perform one dance per style in our show. This means Combo classes perform two pieces! Combo classes are divided based on grade level:
-
Kindergarten & 1st Grade
-
2nd & 3rd Grade
Ballet
This class is for the dancer who can’t stop twirling in the kitchen while you’re making dinner! Ballet is a gentle introduction to the world of ballet, including technique, barre work, and across the floor. Never boring, Ballet is sets a fun, firm foundation for every dancer. Pink ballet shoes are required.
Jazz
Our goal in Jazz is to learn technique and fundamentals that easily translate to other genres of dance, such as hip hop and tap. Dancers work on flexibility, body awareness, and self-discipline. Jazz is offered as part of a combo class at BRAVO, as it compliments both tap and ballet technique at a beginning level. Black jazz shoes are required.

Tap
Beginning Tap is learning basic steps and combinations, focusing on foot isolations and tap terminology. Rhythms are simple and fun as we explore the different sounds that can be made with each part of the footwear. Black tap shoes are required for this class.

4th & 5th Grade
Ballet
Our goal for this level is to build on the basic understanding of ballet technique and vocabulary. This class is ideal for those dancers who want to strengthen their technique as it offers a more focused environment. Students get an emphasis on barre work and positions of the body. Focus is placed on correct alignment, strengthening, toning, and flexibility of the muscles. Pink ballet shoes are required.

Hip Hop
At BRAVO, we strike the perfect balance between pop culture and the foundations that the art of dance was based upon. Students get the movements they like with the structure they need, and our parents are happy to see their students perform fresh, cool movements that are age appropriate. Our Hip Hop reflects classic movements seen from dance teams to Broadway and brings a street flavor to the art of dance. Solid black sneakers are required.

Musical Theatre
Musical Theater class explores dramatized movements with character exploration to better enhance a story. These dancers learn to portray a character, and tell their story with their bodies. Dancers learn about musicals, theater performance and musical theatre history in addition to dance technique! Students are encouraged to take risks and push their imaginations to create larger than life characters! Black jazz shoes are required for this class.

Tap
Tap is learning basic steps and combinations, focusing on foot isolations and tap terminology. Rhythms are simple and fun as we explore the different sounds that can be made with each part of the footwear. Black tap shoes are required for this class.

Middle School: Grades 6th-8th

Lyrical
Lyrical movement is a cousin to ballet. With more forgiving technique, lyrical is often performed in parallel and has a more emotive style. Students experiment with fluid motions, sustained balance, flexibility, and grace. Lyrical class is a wonderful way to gain experience in the genre. Pink ballet shoes are required.

Musical Theatre
Formerly called Dance Theater, our Musical Theater class explores dramatized movements with character exploration to better enhance a story. Similar to “Glee” performances, our Musical Theater students take a song and turn it into a production! In addition to learning principal dance movements, this class also delves into character study, scene analysis, and stage presence. Students are encouraged to take risks and push their imaginations to create larger than life characters! Black jazz shoes are required for this class.

Tap
Building upon the basic steps and foot isolations, dancers are introduced to more syncopated rhythms, more complicated turns, and tougher combinations will be explored. Black tap shoes are required for this class.

Middle School & High School Combined
Beginner Ballet
Beginner Ballet is designed to develop awareness of alignment and basic ballet vocabulary and technique, without being too "boring". Ballet technique is the foundation of all dance styles, so it's important to learn but sometimes hard to focus. Why not make ballet fun?! Class will include basic barre exercises, center, and across the floor. We will learn about body alignment, movement quality, carriage of the upper body and flexibility. If you want to build your strength and skills to be en' pointe, this is the class for you!

Contemporary
Contemporary dance is much more than just a combination of ballet, lyrical, and jazz styles. This form of dance defies traditional technique by integrating body and mind into fluid motions that project a dancer's emotion. Through breath and torso supported movements, contemporary elements include floor work, fall and recovery, contractions, and releases. This class allows dancers to safely explore these elements and reach outside of their comfort zone. Nude contemporary or half-soled shoes are required.

High School Non-Audition
CO-Ed Combo
This is our non-auditioned/non-instructor placement high school class which focuses on strength, body isolations and the technique needed for each dance style. This class offers a “y’all come” policy and can also be started mid-year for those of you with a busy schedule! Dancers will perform one jazz routine and the finale Traditions for the December show. For our June show, dancers will perform one hip-hop and one jazz routine. Dancers will have a choreographer master hip-hop class during the spring session. TBD- Black or nude jazz shoes are required for the fall and spring, and black sneakers are required for the spring.
Boys Combo
Our top male dancers have always been a crowd favorite. With the unique opportunity to work with professional guest choreographers, our high school All Boys Hip Hop/Modern Combo class requires athleticism, stamina, and a sense of ADVENTURE. Weight training, agility, and circuit exercises help dancers create powerful, masculine movements with the control and flexibility needed to perform in any sport, especially dance. Dancers will perform one routine for the December show, and two routines for the June show. For the spring session, and a Guest Choreographer will teach one of their two dances. Dancers must have occasional weekend availability for Guest Choreographer master class(es). Black jazz shoes are required for the fall and spring, and black sneakers are required for the spring.

Modern
Modern will explore movement concepts like fall and release, space and time, unison, sequence opposition, and improvisation. In Modern, we articulate and communicate ideas, stories, and express emotions. Class will start with a floor and standing warm-up followed by center and traveling exercises that focus on proper technique, spinal articulation (including contractions and spirals), musicality, and movement quality.

Musical Theatre

Similar to “Glee” performances, our Musical Theater students take a song and turn it into a production! Students are encouraged to take risks and push their imaginations to create larger than life characters! Black jazz shoes are required for this class.

Tap
Fast-paced and fun, tap offers students a more challenging repertoire. Complex rhythms are just the start to the skills for these dancers. Whether you’re hoofing, soft-shoeing, or “stomp”-ing, making music with your feet at BRAVO has never been so rewarding.

High School Girls Combo Class
*Auditions for the 2024-2025 High School Girls Combo have concluded. Please consider joining one of our amazing non-audition classes! Join us in Fall 2025 for our 2025-2026 Auditions!
One of the many things that separate BRAVO from other studios is our commitment to listening to our students. Years ago, our BRAVO family told us that they wanted an opportunity to "earn" their spot in class instead of relying on teachers to decide where they will best learn, perform, and have fun. BRAVO took what you said to heart and we created a non-threatening, fun, and exciting "audition" process to help students get their feet wet and show us their achievement goals. Our High School Auditioned Classes work on strength, tricks, body isolations, and fast rhythms. Depending upon the skills and desires of each auditioned class, the lyrical class portion may take a more modern feel.
Dancers will perform one routine for the December show, and two routines for the June show. For the spring session, and a Guest Choreographer will teach one of their two dances. Dancers must have occasional weekend availability for Guest Choreographer master class(es). TBD- Black or nude jazz shoes are required for the fall and spring, and black sneakers are required for the spring.
*Please note that our auditioned & instructor placement classes are a full-year commitment [both the fall and spring sessions].

Advanced Hip-Hop
Instructor Placement

Advanced Musical Theater
Instructor Placement
Building on basic character development and dance techniques, our Advanced Musical Theater class pushes students to sharpen their ability to project a story using their emotions and movements. Student's will perform a song similar to how it would be produced in a full musical, without the intimidation that often comes with singing. This allows student to focus on honing their physical abilities as a performer, and encourages exploration of new ideas. Student's will also be taught professionalism in the theater and learn audition techniques in a judgment-free space. Dancers at this level must be able to learn choreography quickly, and be disciplined to practice at home. This class moves quickly, and there are a lot of moving pieces and parts so you are often not doing the same thing as the person next to you. You must be able to recall your own dance track and perform it well while seeing other dancers perform something different around you. Dancers should also be proficient in double pirouettes, double stag turns, barrel turns, characterization, and strong kick technique. Required shoes will be discussed in class based on the character you are portraying. Please wear black or nude jazz shoes to class.
*Please note that our auditioned & instructor placement classes are a full-year commitment [both the fall and spring sessions].
Contemporary with Partnering
Instructor Placement
This class focuses on working as an ensemble, emphasizing working and trusting those dancers around you. Dancers will hone their ability to project an emotional narrative through the foundation of breath and core support. Contemporary dance stresses transferal motions including floor work, contractions, and releases giving a dancer better control of their abilities. Dancers should be very comfortable with knee and ground work. Our goal is to work beyond dancer 'tricks' and strengthen the foundation and creativity that shapes unique movements.
Dancers must have strong ballet technique as a foundation which we can explore their contemporary flair. Dancers must have basic acrobatic abilities including a cartwheel, handstand, backward roll, and standing bridge. Dancers must also have strong pirouettes, calypsos, grand jetes, and tilts. This class works and performs as a group, building trust so we can explore partnering and stunt work. This group works together to lift each other up!
Nude contemporary or half-soled shoes are required.
*Please note that our auditioned & instructor placement classes are a full-year commitment [both the fall and spring sessions].
